Our read: The buy is real and filed with the SEC: 1,665 coins for $142.7 million, funded by a $246.2 million stock sale. But the latest coins cost more than bitcoin trades at now, the purchase was smaller than recent weeks, and the model leans on issuing new shares. The filing gave no BTC Yield figure.
Bitget says the breach is contained, the $387.5 million loss is fully covered by its protection fund, and no user will lose money.
Our read: Withdrawals restarted on schedule and Bitget named Mandiant and SlowMist as investigators, which supports the contained claim. But the loss figure, the North Korea attribution and the fund's coverage all come from Bitget itself, with no independent audit of the fund and no suspect traced yet.
Franklin Templeton and Bybit say traders can now earn money-market yield on their collateral while borrowing stablecoins against it, bringing traditional-market capital efficiency to crypto trading.
Our read: The partnership is real and confirmed by both firms, with about $686 million in fund shares eligible and a 3.7% yield. But the release gives no credit-line limits, no haircut terms and no list of eligible jurisdictions, and the sum is small next to Bybit's daily volumes.
THORChain says it cannot selectively freeze the Bitget hacker's wallets, because its only emergency control is a network-wide halt, so the stolen funds must be left to move.
Our read: The protocol genuinely lacks a clean per-address freeze, and any halt would stop every user at once. Yet THORChain has debated blocking illicit flows before, and its validators could coordinate, so the refusal is partly a choice and not only a technical limit.
